GEAR

Welcome to my gear page!  One of the most common questions I get is how I achieve my guitar tones and what my floor setup consists of...

It is always fun explaining this, so I thought I would elaborate a bit on my current setup.

Guitars:

Elixir Strings:  Proud to be an endorsed artist for Elixir Strings!

I honestly believe that a good guitar is only as good as the strings that are on it.  I absolutely rely on the consistency and incredible tone of Elixir strings.  I have used them for many years now.  The tone and feel is absolutely crucial to achieving my sound and pulling every tone possible out of my guitars.  Elixir strings encourage creativity for me and push me to play guitar to the best of my ability.  I am honored to be a part of the Elixer family!  I highly recommend Elixir strings to anyone who plays guitar!  Try them!

CURRENT GUITARS:

Martin SWOMGT (w Martin Gold Plus undersaddle pickup):  This guitar has been my main guitar for close to 10 years now.  It sounds and plays amazing.  It is often said that a Martin sounds the worst it will ever sound on the day you buy it...I would agree!  This thing just keeps settling in and sounding better everyday.

PREVIOUS GEAR:

I have had waaaaay too many guitars to list over the years...probably close to 100...maybe more.  I have started a list somewhere and add to it when I remember a guitar.  I will add that here at some point just for fun! But here are a just a few of the more recent guitars that have come and gone:

Gibson Keb Mo Acoustic

Godin A6 Ultra

Taylor K14ce

Taylor 814ce Brazilian Rosewood (regret selling this one!)

Taylor GC 3 (with Martin Gold Plus undersaddle pickup):

I absolutely love and prefer smaller body acoustics.  This is a concert sized guitar with a short scale neck that makes this thing an incredibly balanced guitar.  Great for recording...shines on blues/folk styles of music.  Percussive when it needs to be.  Just an all around great guitar!

Epiphone SST studio:  This is an interesting guitar.  I have had a few over the years.  It is a solidbody acoustic guitar.  This makes it incredibly resistant to feedback on stage.  It is a backup/alternate tuning guitar.  I also use this in environments that I am uncomfortable taking my Martin or Taylor...perhaps a cool humid outdoor gig at night or a rowdy bar?  The solid wood body also makes it a rugged guitar that is less likely to be affected by humidy and temperatures.  Excellent guitar!  Plays very well...very similar to its big brother from Gibson.  These guitars are no longer made and are often sought after by bands due to feedback resistance.

PA GEAR:

A ton of my tone comes from the PA gear that I use.  Perhaps one of the most important elements of live sound is the quality of the sound system...

I rely on BOSE products to give me room filling, clear, and tonally pleasing sound.  I have two separate rigs...one for small/medium sized venues and one for larger and louder venues.

Bose L1 compact - small/medium venues

Bose L1 model 1S  - larger venues

BOSE S1 PRO - small venues

Bose T1 tonematch mixer:  this provides amazing pre-amps and digital mixing...also ensures consistent tone from system to system and room to room.

SHURE BETA 87a/SHURE BETA 57 mics

PEDALS/PREAMPS

I use the following pedals...in this order for signal chain:

Ernie Ball Volume Pedal JR (Active)

Boss DD-7 delay pedal

Boss RC-3 Loop Pedal

Fishman Aura Spectrum DI
